Renfrew’s “Walk Back in Time” Children’s Book Exhibit Begins July 1
Renfrew Museum and Park will host a children’s book exhibit from July 1 through August 31 in our Changing Gallery located inside the Museum House. Michael Schnebly from Greencastle, PA has graciously loaned his private collection of over 70 children’s book to Renfrew to display. Schnebly’s vast children’s collection includes many first editions and a group of 19th century die-cut, novelty shaped books by various publishers.
Schnebly, a retired media specialist with the Washington County School system, had a similar exhibit at Renfrew in 1982 and has loaned his books out to other locations for exhibits such as the Miller House in Hagerstown and to the Ezra Lehman Memorial Library at Shippensburg University. Last year Schnebly donated over 700 cookbooks to the Allison-Antrim Museum in Greencastle in memory of his mother, Elizabeth B. Schnebly.
Renfrew will host a public reception to open the exhibit on Saturday, July 1 from 12 noon to 2 pm in the Visitors Center. Light refreshments will be served and the children’s books may be viewed until 4 pm on July 1. Book exhibit hours for the remainder of the exhibit will be Monday through Saturday from 1 – 4 pm. you
