Live Here

Away from the bustle … close to the fun! Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the greater Waynesboro area is set in southern Franklin County, Pennsylvania, amidst the backdrop of scenic farmland, rolling fruit orchards, and historic landmarks. Simply stated, it’s where the city comes to relax.

While our town and its surrounding municipalities sit away from the bustle of more metropolitan locales, the area doesn’t lack for culture, activities, or entertainment. Nearly every weekend, you can find something to do here – from enjoying an intimate dinner at one of our eateries to perusing the downtown galleries of Destination ARTS! to attending a historic or cultural event at Renfrew Park.

Ranked among the best

In early 2014, Waynesboro was ranked second on a list of the 10 Best Places to Retire in Pennsylvania by Movoto Real Estate. Waynesboro was selected from among 68 towns across the commonwealth with a population of more than 10,000 based on cost of living, crime rate, amenities per person, weather, and distance to the nearest international airport.

Travel with ease

We are ideally situated away from the hubbub of the busy interstate, but remain within a 15- to 30-minute drive of major highways to easily travel to several points of interest: Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.

Waynesboro is just 83 miles from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), 71 miles from Dulles International Airport (IAD), and 77 miles from Harrisburg International Airport (MDT). Ronald Reagan National (DCA) and Hagerstown Regional (HGR) airports also are used frequently by local residents.

Good weather

The greater Waynesboro area rarely experiences catastrophic weather events and in 2014 was named the top town in Pennsylvania for weather by Movoto Real Estate.

Low crime

The area also boasts low crime rates and in 2011, Franklin County’s crime rate was just 1.8% per 100,000 people. (Source: The Pennsylvania State Police, Uniform Crime Reporting System, Annual Uniform Crime Report, Offenses Reported by County 2012)
