Experience Waynesboro

History? We've got that.

Recreation? We've got that, too.

Culture? Yes.

And did we mention a nationally-renowned gourmet confectionary?

Renfrew Park
Settled by Daniel Royer in 1812, Renfrew Park for years was an operating Pennsylvania-German farmstead. In 1975, the property was gifted to the Borough of Waynesboro by its last private owner, Emma Geiser Nicodemus, with the stipulation the limestone home be used as a museum and the surrounding farmland, a park.

Today, the site boasts designated wilderness areas and hiking trails; a 150-seat pavilion; and playground equipment. The home of Renfrew Museum and Park and Renfrew Institute for Cultural and Environmental Studies, the park each year hosts classes, lectures, and community festivals.

Monterey Pass Battlefield
In addition to its close proximity to the major Civil War battlefields of Gettysburg and Antietam, the greater Waynesboro area offers an interpretive center highlighting this lesser-known battle.

Waged July 4 and 5, 1863, as soldiers retreated from Gettysburg, it was the only battle fought on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Line.

Appalachian Trail
During warmer months, it's not uncommon to spot a hiker in worn, rugged boots and oversized backpack who has traveled into town to restock supplies or recharge. The greater Waynesboro area is just off the beaten path of the AT, making it convenient for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy an afternoon or several days hiking through mountainous terrain with great views.

Destination ARTS!
A free juried art show started in 2013, Destination ARTS! is held every weekend in the downtown. It occupies the first floors of several downtown buildings that have been transformed into curated galleries featuring over 1,000 works from more than 100 locally-, regionally-, and nationally-known artists.

Zoe's Chocolate Co.
